Early 20th century Wigmaker's Model Head


Here's the description from Garth's auction: Carved wooden head with stylized facial features and a paper covering on the top. Used by a German wig maker, Hugo Langer, who worked in Akron, Ohio, the first half of the 20th Century. Wear from use. 10"h. Included with the piece is a copy of a newspaper article on the wig maker.

Sold for $ 350.00.

The description of the paper covering, should read with paper pattern for making the wig. Each wig would have been bespoke, therefore needing a pattern of the wearers headshape to eneble the wig to fit acurately. Gill Little Wigmaker U.K
