Early 20th century folk art carved figure of a man. According to oral history, this figure stood on a counter in a Pennsylvania country store where customers would shake its hands.
Circa 1930's folk art scarecrow built out of branches, fenceboards and
furniture pulls. According to tradition, this is one of six of these
scarecrows, four of which went to the artist's children, and two went to
galleries. This is one of those two. The other is pictured in the
Ricco/Maresca book, American Primitive.
