I love the contrast between the 1936/37 Latvian (?) ID and the US Jr. High ID below. The Latvian ID is festooned with a myriad of official stamps and signatures and anti-counterfeiting measures. The US ID looks like it was made by a 5 year old. :)
Yeah, the American one seems a bit more casual and less official. I recently found some old student ids of mine from when I was in college (and an old Price Club membership card!) and my wife wanted me to throw them away, but I relented knowing that it will make for a good laugh for someone in the future (especially with '80's hair).
