Portraits in Miniature

The first image is a portrait ring, possibly made in prison, circa 1930's. The second is a very small tintype in an unusual bone carved frame, dated 1868.

I have a ring similar to yours. I also have an ad from an old magazine that shows the ring which was available mail order from some novelty shop.

That second frame is amazing!!

Thanks for sharing your collection. I really enjoy your blog.

Some of the items are from my collection, but others are just stuff I find online. The two I just listed are actually currently available on eBay.

I'm so glad that you like the blog. I really wish I had more time to update it, but it seems like I get so busy with work and art that there ends up being few hours left in the day. But I do love doing it.

Thanks for checking it out Angelica!

My guess is that the second ring is a piece of memorial jewelry, a pretty common genre in the 19th Century.

Second ring has 1968 carved into it. Pretty neat stuff!
