The first image is a portrait ring, possibly made in prison, circa 1930's. The second is a very small tintype in an unusual bone carved frame, dated 1868.
I have a ring similar to yours. I also have an ad from an old magazine that shows the ring which was available mail order from some novelty shop. That second frame is amazing!!Thanks for sharing your collection. I really enjoy your blog.
Some of the items are from my collection, but others are just stuff I find online. The two I just listed are actually currently available on eBay.I'm so glad that you like the blog. I really wish I had more time to update it, but it seems like I get so busy with work and art that there ends up being few hours left in the day. But I do love doing it. Thanks for checking it out Angelica!
My guess is that the second ring is a piece of memorial jewelry, a pretty common genre in the 19th Century.
Ah, very interesting! Thanks for the insight!
Second ring has 1968 carved into it. Pretty neat stuff!
