Something weird happens when you try to do portraiture in carved wood. I've seen a number of them in my time and I've never seen one that doesn't come away with a strange, almost sinister quality to it....almost like Han Solo being encased in carbonite!

I think here they are mostly missing eye/pupils so it makes them a bit freaky. But generally I find folky/primitive styles work best with wood.
Probably doesn't help that they look like Chucky too :)
