wild and interesting story - great post
I thought it was interesting how it highlights all of the different competing interests and the very clear preference American collectors have for American provenance, despite the aesthetic appeal of a work of art.
It's also a terrific instructional story about the research and the nuances of the carving industry. It's almost surreal how it all came together. That is exceedingly rare, and so well worth the retelling. Thanks so much for posting this!
