"A Little Study in Black & White"

Strange postcard. No idea what it's supposed to mean.

  1. "Far from the Madding Crowd" is a Thomas Hardy novel. I'm not sure what the card is meant to depict unless it is symbolic.

  2. Hmmmmm....I wonder if it references an episode within the novel? Thanks for the comment!

  4. Hi Jay,

Shoot, I wish I did have it so I could give it to you. This was on eBay around the time of the original posting. I don't remember the seller's id, but I do remember that it didn't sell. I would maybe keep the keyword phrase "A Little Study in Black & White" and search for it. It may come up again...

    Thanks,

    Joey

  12. I have a framed pic of this ... in left hand lower corner it says "House of Art, NY". It was framed and given to my grandmother as a thank you for all she had done for the lady. It's dated Aug. 23, 1942.
