1930's Folk Art Carving styled after Chinese "Medicine Lady"

Recently acquired this gem. A circa 1930's folk art carving of a nude woman, very similar in style to Chinese ivory medicine ladies that were used to show doctor's where certain parts of the body were being affected.

Vintage 1980's Moschino Pants

Fantastic! There's about a million paintings in there...

Miroslav Tichy

Thanks to blog reader losfeld who reminded me of the outsider photography of Miroslav Tichy. Self-made voyeurism at it's best. I first heard of this artist in the book "Create and Be Recognized", which has an entry on his work. There are a couple of other books out on him as well as an exhibition of his work this past February at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery.

Anonymous Painted Panels

Circa 1960's painted panels said to be the work of a female furniture painter in Cape Giradeau, Missouri.
Said to have been sold to vacationers furnishing their cabins in the Ozarks. Currently for sale at The Splendid Peasant.

Two Southern Carved African American Figures

This one is sort of inexplicable to me: 2 folk art carved figures of marginal quality and a 1938 date sold for a whopping $ 2600.00 at Green Valley Auctions recently. Maybe it's just me, but I think these were insanely overvalued.
